Can you help the Mulanje Orphans?
West Lancs is a friendly and welcoming club and our members go out of their way to help others. As our young sailors get ready to sail, parents and grandparents get stuck in to help with the rigging of the boats, because sailing is all about teamwork and collaboration. Today Grandad David helps one of the young sailors get ready to launch his boat for the Saturday afternoon racing.... In the blazing sunshine its really important to put on your hat, dark glasses and plenty of sun protection lotion.... Meanwhile Nan Joan is busy too, knitting in the clubhouse, and knitting with a purpose!
Joan's knitting is to help fund and support albino orphans in Mulanje, Malawi who also need help to protect themselves from the sun. The orphans are looking for non-prescription sunglasses and reading glasses, big-brimmed hats and caps of any material or colour, and sun protection and after sun lotions. Any donation is gratefully received. If you have any of these items to spare, please contact Joan Stableford on 07944 977933 or check out the Friends of Mulanje website.
