A Brilliant Brasileiro Junior Championship Day at West Lancs!

What a fantastic day we had on Saturday for the Club's Junior Championships, sailed under the colourful banner of the Brasileiro trophies!

A total of 22 young sailors took to the water across four fleets — OnBoard, Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced — with plenty of close finishes (especially in the much-enjoyed Parents Race!). The breeze freshened as the day went on, giving everyone a real taste of exciting sailing conditions and some great racing to watch from shore.

It was wonderful to see children and parents all playing their part, both on and off the water. A big thank you to our volunteers, whose enthusiasm and teamwork helped make the day such a success.

After the sailing, everyone tucked into a well-earned party tea, with trophies awarded to our proud winners and smiles all around.

Meanwhile, six of our more advanced juniors were away representing WLYC at the RYA North West Junior Travellers event at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club — achieving some excellent results and doing the club proud!

A brilliant day of sailing, teamwork, and fun all round — well done to every junior (and parent!) who took part.
