WLYC 24 Hour Race

Teamwork - Challenge - Endurance - Fun
The WLYC 24 Hour Race is preparing for the 2026 event ... and we are teaming up again with the L&L SC Sunrise to Sunset and SSC 12 Hour Races!
Each year the WLYC 24 Hour Race forms the largest competitive gathering of dinghy sailors in the UK. This huge event is a collaboration of sailing clubs and associations from across the UK, hosted by West Lancs on the shallow waters of the beautiful Marine Lake in the centre of Southport. Clubs compete in teams in an endurance race to challenge the very best and to celebrate the spirit of collaboration and fun of the national sailing community.
S2S Race Leigh & Lowton SC will host the Sunrise to Sunset Race (S2S) on Saturday 13th June 2026 at Pennington Flash, the opening fixture of the North-West Endurance Trio. Racing kicks off at dawn (around 4:40am) and runs until dusk (around 9:40pm), closely following the format of the traditional 12 and 24 Hour Races. And its a great opportunity for club teams to build their stamina and hone their skills and team strategy ahead of the 24 Hour Race.
12 Hour Race Southport SC will host the SSC National Junior 12 Hour Race on Saturday 27th June on Southport Marine Lake. The race is open to teams of sailors under 20 years of age on the day of the race, racing in one of four boat classes: GP14, Enterprise, Argo (symmetrical spinnaker only), and RS Quest. West Lancs strongly supports junior participation in sailing - held during the hours of daylight, the 12 Hour Race - a huge endurance challenge in itself - is a great opportunity for young sailors to develop their team sailing skills.
