Press Release: We're Ready for Southport's 24 Hour Dinghy Race!

This weekend (13-14 September 2024) we welcome back sailors from across the UK for the WLYC 24 Hour  Race on Southport's Marine Lake and this year it's bigger than ever.

With over 60 teams entered and more than 800 sailors taking part, the race promises 24 hours of non-stop action on the water. But what really makes this event special is the collaboration between clubs. More than 200 volunteers many from the competing teams will be working 300+ shifts as safety crews, stewards, race officials, and support teams to keep the event running smoothly around the clock.

Now in its 54th year, the race isn't just about competition; its about stamina, teamwork, and community spirit. Thanks to the help of Sefton Council, the RYA, our headline sponsor International, and a host of national and local supporters, were set for another unforgettable weekend.

The race starts at 12 noon on Saturday and finishes at 12 noon on Sunday and whether you're sailing, volunteering, cheering from the shore, or just soaking up the atmosphere, we'd love for you to join us by the lake. Car parking on Marine Drive is just £10 for the whole weekend!
