Coronavirus Update (2020-05-14)
Message from The Commodore
Return to Sailing Update - Club & Marine Lake Currently Closed.
I hope that you are all well, and I know that you are all keen to return to sailing,
Much work has been done over the past few days regarding the changes that we must implement at the Club. However, there are a number of headline issues that need to be satisfied before we can return to sailing.
- • Sefton Council - the Lake owners - must agree to the re-opening of the lake. This permission has not yet been granted.
- • Sefton Council must reach agreement with the emergency services (police and ambulance) that the lake can be opened safely and without placing undue strain on these services. This agreement has not yet been reached.
- • WLYC are putting in place plans for the management of Covid 19 at the club, including Risk Assessment and Mitigation plans and updated Operating Procedures in order to protect our members and employees and satisfy our insurers that we can open safely. Please be assured that the Executive Committee are working hard to make this happen.
Alistair Dickson of the RYA prefaced his guidance letter: "we encourage clubs to take their time .... and urge members to be patient .. it is unlikely that (Clubs) will be able to open straight away".
For the moment WLYC - Clubhouse, Boathouse and all activities - remain closed.
I will update you when further information is available.
