Coronavirus Update (2020-03-25)
Update from The Commodore
I wrote to you all on Thursday 19th March about the effect of the coronavirus outbreak on our Club and said at the time that the guidance from the government could well change ... well it has. We are now told that social distancing, and association by no more than two people, are the orders of the day, so we have to adjust our response in line with government guidance. Therefore we are now announcing that the clubhouse is closed, and all social and sailing activities are postponed until further notice.
The Executive Committee has been working hard in the background to secure the welfare of our employees, and I believe that this task is now complete. The sailing committee have postponed all sailing activities. It remains for me to hope that you all stay safe during these difficult times and look after your families. Your sailing family also has a taxing time to endure and I hope that you stay close to the Club and realise that it needs your to protection ... both socially and financially. Please look out for fellow members, keep in touch with them and please support the Club by maintaining your subscriptions. I am confident that the Club will emerge from this trial, intact, and we'll all be back sailing again later in the year. The Club has lasted for 125 years, through many trials and tribulations, and we want it to last many more years ... but in the end that's up to all of us working together as one.
