Our ClubThe Club

West Lancashire Yacht Club (WLYC) was founded in 1894 and is one of the oldest sailing clubs in the North West.

The Club occupies a pleasant lakeside location overlooking Southport Marine Lake and the promenade. It is well appointed, with Club memorabilia reflecting its past history and connections with Southport.

Our FacilitiesOur Facilities

The Club offers the following amenities -:

  • A large function room adjacent to the bar and capable of accommodating up to 120 people.
  • Accessible facilities.
  • On site car parking.
  • A paved area in front of the Clubhouse suitable for the erection of a marquee.to accommodate larger events.
  • Catering facilities—with a choice of using either the Club Steward, an approved outside caterer or self-catering.

We can offer flexibility in our pricing to suit the type and timing of your event.

Our ExperienceOur Experience

The Club is a frequent venue for special occasions including wedding receptions, engagement and birthday celebrations and our facilities are ideal for dancing.

The Clubhouse is suitable for use as a venue for business meetings and training courses.

Our Club Steward is an experienced and friendly host.

Wall End - The Green Navigation BuoyOur Location

The Clubhouse is accessed off Marine Drive which runs alongside the sea front north of Southport Pier. If arriving by car from the south, pass under the pier, over two roundabouts and turn right at the large green navigation buoy (the no entry signs apply only to the two legs of the car park).

From the north the road through the public car park is signed WLYC / SSC. Turn left, drive past the Sailing Club and continue to the Yacht Club.

It is within walking distance of bus and train routes and Southport town centre.
