Southport Triathlon - Sunday 16th May 2021
The Southport Triathlon is planned for Sunday 16th May. The event is being organised by Epic Events Ltd; In the past the event has attracted more than 1000 entrants As in previous years the race will start with swimming in the Marine Lake from Waterside Lodge, exiting the lake in WLYC Car Park and running through a gate in our fence near the sluice gates to a swim / cycle transition zone in the Marine Drive Car Park between the Sluice Gates and the entry to SSC slip road, The swim is followed by a 20Km / 40 Km cycle race along the Coast Road between Pontins and the "Plough" Roundabout and finally a run of 1 or 2 laps round the Marine Lake.

Saturdy 15 May – Set up and Registration
Marine Drive Car Park. The Transition Zone will be setup during Saturday. Therefore, throughout the day the Marine Drive Car Park adjacent to the Wall End Buoy will be closed on Saturday 15th May; however Epic Events are aware of our training and racing on the lake that day, They have assured us that access to WLYC will be maintained at all times but the approach will be along the access road from the North entrance near Southport Sailing Club. As the access road is an advisory one-way system, this would be the normal approach to the Club in any case so there should be minimal impact on members accessing our site on Saturday. Care will need to be taken as vehicles will be using the North entrance to the access road to enter and exit the club - the customary one-way system will be used two-ways.
Waterside Lodge - Registration and Swimming Practice.
Epic Events have booked Waterside Lodge for registration during the day on Sat. However, in the light of the current Covid precautions unlike previous years there will be no practice swimming on Saturday
